Protective Put (Synthetic Call)

A protective put pairs long stock with a long put to act as portfolio insurance, capping downside losses while preserving unlimited upside (less the put premium). Useful for protecting profits in an existing long position or hedging speculative purchases through earnings or other event risk. Breakeven equals stock purchase price plus the put premium.
