Long Straddle
A long straddle buys both a call and a put at the same strike and expiration to profit from fast, aggressive moves in either direction or from a sharp rise in implied volatility. Most commonly used around earnings, FDA announcements, or other event-driven catalysts. Risk is limited to the combined premium paid; profit potential is theoretically unlimited to the upside.
